Sad News

We got a call Monday morning  (3/22) from Doug’s Dad’s girlfriend saying that he had less than 24 hours to live.  He was diagnosed with terminal cancer recently and was receiving hospice care.  He had a fall in the wee hours Monday morning (or maybe Sunday, I am not clear) and by the time we got there he was on atavan and morphine and did not wake up.  We all were up Monday night taking turns sitting with him  and  it just happened that Doug and his brother were resting at the time that his Dad died on Tuesday morning.  His sister-in-law and I were there for his last moments.  She is a caregiver in a home and has done hospice care before.  We go back tomorrow with the truck to get the things we wanted and to give the rest away to a local church that will distribute them to people in need.  It has been a difficult week.  We are fortunate that we were able to see him a few weeks ago.  He was loved by many and will be missed.

  1. Dear Madelin, I’m so sorry for your loss. I am thinking of you and Doug, and all your family.
